Stated Meeting

  • Philadelphia Masonic Temple 1 N. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19107 United States (map)

Program(s):

A Pennsylvania Mason in Afghanistan: The Man Who Would be King

Presented by: Arjit “Artie” Mahal, PM

A Stated Meeting of Lodge No. 2 will be held in Egyptian Hall at the Philadelphia Masonic Temple. Lodge No. 2 is pleased to announce that Bro. Arjit “Artie” Mahal, PM, will be delivering a presentation on the Masonic references included in the novella The Man Who Would be King, written by Bro. Rudyard Kipling and later adapted into a major motion picture starring Sean Connery, Michael Caine and Christopher Plummer. This is a fascinating story of a Pennsylvania Quaker and a Freemason: a doctor, soldier, general, botanist, naturalist, poet, historian and also a mercenary whose destiny made him a prince! (It is earnestly recommended that members view the film The Man Who Would be King prior to attending the Stated Meeting in order to allow for more robust discussion following the presentation.) For more details, see the attached flyer.

Dinner will be held at 5:45 p.m. in the lower level banquet hall of the Philadelphia Masonic Temple. If you will be joining the Brethren for dinner, kindly RSVP to our Steward by Tues., 29-Oct-2019, via the button below. Although there is no cost to attend dinner, brethren are encouraged to make a nominal donation (e.g. $10.00++) to the Lodge No. 2 Almoner’s Fund in lieu of payment. All proceeds will go towards the relief of worthy, distressed brethren who are currently experiencing financial hardship. To donate, click on the button below:
