Worshipful Master's Message - October 2021

Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.

Dear Brethren,

The seasons are changing outside, and it feels like something similar is happening in our Lodge. Last month we voted on a petition for membership for the first time in over a year and a half, and we will likely be considering more such petitions this month. Our impromptu rehearsal meeting was a such a resounding success that such meetings may become a regular fixture on our Lodge’s schedule, especially as we anticipate conferring degrees at every extra meeting for the rest of the year. Even though the pandemic is still of concern, we have been and will continue to be vigilant – remember, it is our Masonic duty to keep one another safe and healthy. I look forward to what the rest of the year will bring for Lodge No. 2!

In our ancient rituals, being raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason signifies the completion of a candidate’s journey from darkness into true Masonic light. A Freemason may contentedly spend his entire time with the Fraternity enjoying the brotherhood and friendship of his home Lodge. But as Masons, we are instructed to continue seeking knowledge and wisdom, so becoming a Master Mason is only the foundation upon which an entire system of Masonic institutions has been built over the years. Organizations such as the Shriners, Scottish Rite, Royal Arch, and Knights Templar give every Freemason the opportunity to continue their Masonic endeavors beyond the three ancient degrees. Brother Bill Soloway, our Senior Master of Ceremonies, will be giving a presentation this month about some of these Masonic appendant bodies and what they add to the Craft.

See you in Egyptian Hall!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Paul R. Cleveland
