Worshipful Master's Message - April 2025

Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.

Brethren,

I do not like to start messages with sad news, however, I regret to inform you about the passing of our Organist Bro. Eugene Frohlich. For those that do not know, Gene had a great sense of humor, and I could always count on a smile from him with my bad dad jokes. His favorite song was “Strawberry Fields Forever” by the Beatles, and I will now think of Gene whenever I hear this song. In addition to having provided musical accompaniment to various Masonic Lodges in Philadelphia for years, Gene also played the carillon at Christ Church in Old City. Let's please keep Gene and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

As we now move into Spring it is time to get the yards cleaned, gardens started, windows opened (on the semi-crispy days ) and listen to the wildlife sing their songs. Hopefully we all have the opportunity to get outdoors and take a few walks surrounded by nature.

During our April meeting, Bro. Petty Officer Second Class Seth Lavelle will be home on leave and will be delivering a presentation on the night sky to emphasize one of the seven liberal arts—astronomy. At our Extra Meeting we will be conferring three Master Mason Degrees. Furthermore, it is great to see our newly raised brethren becoming actively involved within OUR Lodge.

There are plenty of activities coming up so please stay informed by reading the weekly email sent to you. It is also official that the current Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master—Bro. Brother Robert D. Brink—will be visiting Lodge No. 2 in 2026 after he is installed as Right Worshipful Grand Master. Later this year we will be traveling to Alexandria, VA to attend a meeting at Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. Keep your eyes peeled for further information.

Thank you all for everything you do to keep Lodge No. 2 moving forward.

All the best,

Peter B. Lavelle, P.M.
