Worshipful Master's Message - June 2025
/Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.
Brethren,
As the lights of our Lodge will dim briefly for the summer, I hope each of you will enjoy and take advantage of the time away from each other.
It has been a pleasure to serve you over the past 18 months…there is still much more labor in the quarry to accomplish.
When I took responsibility of sitting in the East the first statement that was made was, “This is your Lodge,” and it is my duty to ensure you receive 120% effort on my part, as well as me willing to get my hands dirty first regarding any task that is delegated to another. And with that, the expectation is that all who are serving you on the floor or behind the scenes give the same amount of effort that emanates from the East.
In the words that echo from the past from Nabeshima Naoshige First Daimyo of the Saga Nabeshima Clan), “A castle can be or not be beneficial. For the good general who has good men, a castle will be useful. For the inferior general who employs inferior men, a castle will have no use, regardless of how secure it may be.”
We are all rough ashlars, however, diamonds and gold are extracted from rough terrain. Each and every one of you have some golden nugget that can be shared with our Lodge, and I look forward to you sharing it in good council.
All the best,
Peter B. Lavelle, P.M.
