Worshipful Master's Message - July 2025

Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.

Brethren,

A few updates as we are called off from labor. Unfortunately, we lost a pillar within Masonic District D, Bro. Norman Walsh, P.M. Norm was the epitome of what our Fraternity is and should be; he will be missed by many.

Per the order of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, dues are due on or before Sat., 27-Dec-2025 at 12:00 p.m. Brethren who do not pay their annual dues on or before the deadline will be immediately suspended. If dues are paid AFTER the deadline, you will be a member in good standing, however; you will not be permitted to attend Lodge or participate in any Lodge activities, dinner, etc.—you will effectively be in limbo and require that your membership be reinstated per Ahiman Rezon 19.2

Thank you to all that RSVP for dinners and events. This process has helped Lodge No. 2 decrease wasteful spending, and has made it much easier for the Elected Officers to have a clear picture when submitting their budget.

Moving forward, all Stated and Extra Meeting RSVPs must be submitted no later than 8:00 p.m. the evening before dinner via the link provided on the website or weekly e-newsletter. This ensures that the restaurant will receive an accurate headcount in a timely manner so that they can plan accordingly, especially when large conferences and conventions are held in the city (e.g., the Philadelphia Flower Show, university commencements, etc.) Lodge No. 2 has a very strong relationship with a number of restaurants in the area, and I hope to maintain that going forward. Dinner will be at the expense of any member that chooses not to reserve their spot for dinner per the guidelines set forth.

Lastly, if you have any ideas for activities or opportunities please call or text 267-348-4008 and it will be discussed amongst the Lodge Officers. If, and, or when approved, YOU will be responsible for taking the lead for that activity.

Please be safe, healthy, and create an adventure this summer.

All the best,

Peter B. Lavelle, P.M.
