Worshipful Master's Message - April 2021

Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.

Dear Brethren,

This month, we’re finally back home at the Masonic Temple! I know all of you are as excited as I am to meet in Egyptian Hall as usual. Once again, I must extend the warmest thanks to Thomson Lodge No. 340 in Paoli for allowing us to meet in their building in December and March. I look forward to repaying the hospitality they extended us for the past several months. In fact, the two meetings we held there may have been the first meetings that Lodge No. 2 has held in a location other than the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia in well over a century!

With things moving back towards “normal” for us, now is as good a time as any for us to refresh our Masonic knowledge. The fact that we have had only two meetings in four months – not to mention the pandemic turning the entire world upside down – may have left us all a bit rusty! We are the inheritors of centuries of tradition, and it is our understanding of that tradition that will keep it alive for generations to come. Bro. Stephen W. Long, P.M. will therefore be presenting a Masonic game show for our Brethren to sport their knowledge – with fittingly Masonic prizes to our winners!

The interruption of our meetings has also prevented the granting of a well deserved honor. We will therefore also be conferring the Past Master’s Jewel upon Bro. Ariel Gonzalez, P.M. in recognition of his four consecutive years of service as Worshipful Master. Bro. Ariel’s term in the East embodied the

Masonic virtues of service and leadership, and I am honored to follow him as the Master of this Worshipful Lodge.

See you in Egyptian Hall!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Paul R. Cleveland

Worshipful Master
