Worshipful Master's Message - January 2022

Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.

Dear Brethren,

Happy New Year! As the calendar turns to 2022, we face a great deal of uncertainty. Just as we seemed to be moving in the right direction, the Omicron variant has turned everything on its head. Fortunately, vaccination is required to attend our meetings – but as we see in the news, breakthrough cases among the fully vaccinated are always a possibility. It is our responsibility as Freemasons to remain vigilant in these extraordinary circumstances, based upon our fraternal duty to care for our fellow man. In like manner, it is my responsibility as Worshipful Master to ensure that the members of this Lodge remain safe. I will keep you updated on any new information that I may receive from Grand Lodge or the City, particularly if it affects our meetings. If you have not yet received a booster shot, I implore you to do so – it’s the best way that you can protect yourself and those around you from this ever-changing disease.

At our November stated meeting, we witnessed the initiation of George Richards into our ancient and honorable Fraternity by Bro. John Descano, P.M. After receiving his Fellowcraft Mason’s degree at our December extra meeting, he is now eligible to be raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Accordingly, the program for our January stated meeting will the be conferral of the Master Mason’s degree upon George Richards by Bro. Stephen W. Long, P.M. Holding degree work at stated meetings allows Brethren who are unable to attend extra meetings to see the fine ritual presentations that make this Lodge so special – and since we have three raisings scheduled this month, holding one of them at the stated meeting means the extra meeting won’t last until midnight!

See you in Egyptian Hall!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Paul R. Cleveland

Worshipful Master
