Worshipful Master's Message - May 2026
/Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.
Brethren,
As I write this message, we find ourselves entering our third Spring, though Mother Nature has yet to fully settle into the season.
It is a pleasure to return and observe the many familiar faces, including those supporting from the sidelines. Your continued presence is a testament to the strength and vitality of our Lodge. Equally encouraging is the increase in petitions being presented at our meetings, as well as the growing number of younger and newer members assuming active roles and responsibilities. You represent the future of our Lodge and serve as its outward face. For those who have not recently visited the Grand Lodge website, members of Lodge No. 2 are currently featured in promotional materials for Freemasonry—an honor that reflects positively upon us all.
In recognition of the America 250 celebration, a letter, accompanied by the Worshipful Master’s gift, was sent to the President of the United States. We were honored to receive a formal response from the White House expressing their appreciation. Copies of this correspondence have been included in the meeting minutes.
On April 30th at 10:00 AM, our Lodge will be presented with a resolution from Philadelphia City Council. I extend my sincere thanks to Brother Michael J. Vivas, Junior Warden, for his guidance in this matter. I will have the privilege of delivering remarks of gratitude and acceptance on behalf of the Lodge. Such recognition is a meaningful acknowledgment of our continued service to both our community and our brethren. It exemplifies the principles of Freemasonry—supporting and uplifting one another in contrast to the divisiveness often seen in the outside world.
Our May meeting will feature a timely and informative presentation titled “Stop the Bleed,” delivered by my personal friend, Jeff McHoul, RN, who brings valuable experience as an 18 Delta (Special Forces Medical Sergeant). Those who attended our May 2025 meeting with Brother David Canterbury may recall his previous involvement.
Wishing you all continued health and prosperity.
Fraternally,
Peter B. Lavelle, P.M.
Worshipful Master
