Worshipful Master's Message - September 2026
/Each month, the Worshipful Master provides an update on current events in relation to Freemasonry in general and Lodge No. 2 in particular. Please see below for this month’s message from the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 2.
Brethren,
I hope everyone had a productive and, most importantly, safe summer. As we return to Lodge, I look forward to seeing everyone in September. At our next Stated Meeting, we will give a brief “State of the Lodge,” including an update on our finances and where we stand moving forward. I also want to reassure everyone: “the Lodge is financially solvent and in the black.” After discussions with the Trustees and Treasurer over the summer months, we are currently approximately $10,000 under the 2026 budget.
The increase in annual dues to “$125” as outlined in the correspondence is unfortunately necessary because of increasing Grand Lodge assessments. For many years, the Lodge has absorbed expenses such as assessments, rent, the School of Instruction dues, parking, meals, and other costs. Very little of our dues remains for general Lodge operations. I would rather make this adjustment while we are financially healthy than wait until increasing assessments and expenses put us in the red. This is about being proactive and responsible with the future of Lodge No. 2. This is also why we charge for dinners at our Lodge anniversary—it helps offset the cost of the event rather than placing the entire financial burden on the Lodge.
Finally, I want to sincerely thank those brethren who make monthly contributions to the Almoner's Fund in addition to their annual dues. Your generosity allows us to continue helping brethren when they need it, and it is greatly appreciated. We will provide more details at the September Stated Meeting. Thank you for your continued support of Lodge No. 2.
All the best.
